| Description: | Abstract: Wildlife-livestock interfaces (WLIs) mediate encounters between wild and domestic animals, playing an important role in wildlife conservation, livestock production and human-wildlife coexistence in northern Botswana. Historically, much emphasis has been placed on the separation of wildlife and livestock, but new ideas are emerging that challenge this established view. Furthermore, climate change is likely to impact the current arrangements of the WLI. Echoing the One Health paradigm shiG, different divisions therefore need to be overcome to address the challenges at the WLI, including departmental (veterinary vs. conservation) and epistemological (modern scientific vs. customary knowledge) divisions. Perhaps most importantly, communities living near wildlife should be given a strong voice in future decisions over the WLI. |
