Welcome to the TRR228DB

The TRR228DB is the project-database of the DFG-funded Transregional Collaborative Research Centre 228. The database is able to archive and provide all research data that are created by the project participants. This includes measured/modeled data, reports, presentations, publications, and pictures. In addition, purchased geodata is available for the project participants. All data is provided with correponding metadata. Depending on the respective rights, the download access may be restricted.

A download request function is now available to request download permission for a dataset with restricted access individually from the owner of the data.

September 21st, 2021
The browser-based upload feature has been revamped and now supports files up to 6GB in size. It can be found under User Home -> Upload Data.

A preview feature for picture datasets is now available on the metadata overview page of the corresponding dataset.

Two open training sessions for data management and data delivery to the TRR228DB will be held on Monday 17th of May 2021 (from 14h to 16h) and on on Monday 7th of June 2021 (from 10h to 12h). For more information see the internal email or contact us for further details.

April 14th, 2021
The TRR228DB has been sucessfully updated to version 5.0 with new features (e.g. updated Metadata Wizard, modified Search Features, etc.).

April 8th, 2021
The TRR228DB will be under construction and not accessible due to technical updates on April, 13th-14th, 2021.

March 10th, 2021
The TRR228DB is now a successfully registered repository in the global Registry of Research Data Repositories (re3data.org) and can be cited by DOI. Further details can be found at http://doi.org/10.17616/R31NJMXS.

TRR228 Metadata Schema for the Description of Research Data in the TRR228DB successfully published
The TRR228DB Metadata Schema is a structured list of metadata properties chosen to describe all data in the TRR228DB with accurate metadata. The Schema is designed in compliance with the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative and DataCite (Version 4.3). It is expanded with elements from ISO 19115, INSPIRE, Data Documentation Initiative (DDI), as well as various properties appropriate to the supported data types and specific properties related to the CRC/TRR228 project background.
The Schema is available for download at DOI: 10.5880/TRR228DB.6.

Data Policy successfully adopted
The CRC/TRR228 Project Database Data Policy - the Guidelines concerning the handling of CRC/TRR228 data - was successfully adopted by the CRC Executive Board. The policy forms part of the CRC's statutes (Appendix IV) and should therefore be acknowledged by all CRC member, associated members and users of the TRR228DB. The policy is available for download in the FAQ section.

At the annual CRC / TRR228 retreat (6th - 8th November, 2019) in the Eifel Monastery Steinfeld, one session was dedicated to the topic ‘Data Management and Data Sharing’. The presentation slides are available for download here.

Some statistics and charts on the TRR228DB data are now available. They can be accessed at the main menu bar of the TRR228DB website via the tab Statistics.

October 8th, 2019
The paper "Etablierung von Forschungsdatenmanagement-Services in geowissenschaftlichen Sonderforschungsbereichen am Beispiel des SFB/Transregio 32, SFB 1211 und SFB/ Transregio 228" has been published in the journal Bausteine Forschungsdatenmanagement. It describes experiences in setting up data management services within the CRC/TRR228. The paper is available for download here.

October 1st, 2019
A workshop on ' Workshop on research data management in social sciences - FOCUS: Data protection in research projects' in cooperation with GESIS will be held on Monday, November 25th, 2019 at University of Cologne (Institute of Geography, Modulbau, room Ü5). The workshop will focus especially on research ethics & data protection, informed consent, as well as anonymization of social science data. This workshop will be held by Dr. Anja Perry, who is responsible for data acquisition at the data archive for social sciences at the Leibniz Institute for Social Sciences (GESIS). All TRR228 members are invited (especially PhD students and PostDocs) and particularly encouraged to attend the workshop. Please register for the workshop until November 15th.

The site-based statistic counter FC.Webmasterpro.de has been updated to the Matomo counter hosted by the RRZK, as the old one has caused problems on specific browsers.

August 2nd, 2019
The TRR228DB has been updated with a new feature. From now on it is possible to apply for a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) for TRR228DB data. Assigning a DOI, which is a persistent identifier, to data is best practice for data citation. Proving a DOI in a data citation facilitate data access. For further details about DOIs check the FAQs. For questions about the DOI application process please contact Z02/INF.

A geographic map has been added to the internal Transdisciplinary Diary (TDD) tool. In addition to the table with all diary entries, all entries with geographic information are now also selectable and searchable via the map. To use this new feature please login to the TRR228DB.

The internal Transdisciplinary Diary (TDD) tool has been modified with some new features (e.g. new filter search, hiding of preliminary entries, listing of commentaries). To use this new feature please login to the TRR228DB.

The TRR228DB has been updated with a new feature, the 1st version of the Transdisciplinary Diary (TDD) tool. The TDD tool is available online in the internal area only. The idea of this tool is to share information and to communicate internally about ideas and observations from the field that cut across disciplines. To use this new feature please login to the TRR228DB.
